Selling Used Books For The Highest Price

College students should always try and sell textbooks for cash because with our online price comparison search tool you will actually get get for used books instead of pennies from campus bookstores. Selling back books allows students to get back sometimes a large portion of what they paid for their campus books. At RentScouter, we have developed a methodology that helps students get the highest buyback prices for their used books.

Start your search with the International Standard Book Number (ISBN), which is either a 10 digit or 13 digit number starting with 978. The ISBN is on the back of your textbook; however, be careful as some campus bookstores put their own false labels over the barcode, so always double check the copyright page to make sure you are selling back the right edition of your book. If you send the wrong edition to a buyback company you might not get paid for your used books - bummer.

When you sell your textbooks online with RentScouter we not only find you the best price, but protect you by showing user reviews and BBB ratings for each buyback merchant so you can sell with confidence. We recently implemented a "one stop shopping" service so you can see not only the highest buyback price for single campus book, but also which merchant will give the overall best price, so you can sell back all your books to one place to avoid the hassle of selling to multiple merchants.

Be sure to read the condition guidelines for each buyback merchant as they are all a little different, and you want to get all your cash for your books possible. So make sure you read if they want CDs or other supplemental materials, or how much highlighting they wil take and be honest about your book's condition. If you would not buy your book from the campus bookstore, don't expect to get paid for it. Finally, make sure you package your books for buyback carefully: use a sturdy box (not shoe or cereal box) and some sort of packing material so your books can't move around. One might also consider buying tracking or insurance if not provided to protect against loss or damage.
